Behind The Campaign: Depactus' Latest Collection

When it comes to shooting campaigns, nothing plays more of a major role than the location. It’s a key aspect of bringing to life what a brand is wanting to capture – everything from picturesque backdrops, varieties and differentiation in architecture, the variations of lighting, all building blocks to truly embody and portray a message and product range to us, the wider audience.

One label that knows the perfect formula for these steps is Depactus. They’ve shot all over the globe in the past, though most recently, equipped with the face of the brand Jarrah Tutton, photographer Kane Skenner and a handful of their latest threads, ventured to the isle of Tasmania. Diverse scenery, empty beachbreaks and a whole lot of exploration.

Tell us who you are and what you are about.

My names George Henderson, I look after the marketing for our inhouse brands at SurfStitch.

Tell us all about the latest Depactus campaign.

This campaign we travelled to Tasmania to shoot our Feburary collection. We searched the whole east coast from Bruny Island up to Bicheno on the hunt for waves. The weather wasn’t that great but we found some amazing locations along the way.

Why Tasmania as the featured location?

On our last campaign trip we travelled to Hawaii, so this time we thought let’s explore our own backyard. Tasmania has some of the most beautiful vistas and landscapes. We all fell in love with Tassie on this trip.

Who was featured in the campaign?

We took our Depactus Team rider Jarrah Tutton , photographer Kane Skennar and our local tour guide Mikey Brennan.

What about the talent behind the lens itself? Looks to us like they perfectly captured the brands aesthetic!

Yeah, we are super lucky to have a great relationship with the master Kane Skennar. He always up for an adventure and to explore the unknown.

Tell us about your favourite threads from the latest collection?

For me, I'm really digging the Verge Tshirt, Overland Express Tees and Isle Hood jacket. They'll be my staples this winter.

Tell us about downtime when you weren’t shooting?

This trip the only downtime we had was at night after long days of shooting.  A couple of beers, bbq and singalongs!
