Girl Gang: Hit The Road In This Summer's Latest Looks

Grab your besties and hit the road in this summer’s latest looks! We teamed up with girl gang Lauren McCarthy, Violet Atkinson & Emily Whitlock to shoot our women’s summer edit. We quizzed the girls on their fave new season trends and to get some BTS goss from the shoot.

Did you have a favourite brand from the day?

Lauren - Yes! My favourite was Wrangler, I wore a super chic denim romper with tortoiseshell button detailing. 

Violet - I loved the 70's tan hotpants, tee and visor combo from The Hidden Way.

Emily - I loved the whole retro theme from the shoot, each outfit had a different vibe to it. My favourite brand from the day would have to be Rollas! 

You went to some epic locations on shoot day, which was your favourite location?

Lauren - I think that we’re all going to answer with the amazing drive-in movies! I have never shot somewhere like that before. It’s funny when you’re at a location like that instead of in a studio, it really sets the vibe for the shoot. In a way, it allowed the girls (Em and Vi) and I to take on a certain persona - teens in the 80’s at the drive-in. So, the clothes took on a new meaning!

Violet - I think we all have to agree that he drive-in cinemas were EPIC. There were so many quirky, cool spots around the place to shoot (including a candy bar which, surprise surprise, I raided).

Emily - I absolutely loved the last location which was the Yatala drive-in movies. I had never been there before either. I felt like I had stepped back in time. From the candy bar to the diner, everything there was so authentic and old school. It really suited the retro theme of the shoot!

There are so many trends coming in hot this summer, what’s your favourite trend that we should keep our eye on?

Lauren - Shorts!!! But not just denim cut-off shorts. This year’s bike short craze has offered a new way of tailoring and styling when it comes to bottoms. 

Violet - Muted 70's tones! I am loving all the tan and other earthy colours coming through. So, so nostalgic and beautiful.

Emily - Cute little sets are what I’ll be looking for this summer, I love a good matching set! They are an easy to wear outfit.

We LOVE your style and seeing what you’re wearing on your Insta account. What would you say is your staple summer outfit?

Lauren - Thank you! One of the best parts about this job is being able to style so many different looks - I love showing that through my Instagram. My staple summer outfit is a breezy dress paired with converse and a head scarf (for that bit of flair).

Violet - My staple summer outfit would be a linen dress with a 90's cut to it. It is breathable and can be thrown on over swimmers or dressed up for a night out with friends.

Emily - My staple summer outfit would have to be either denim shorts and a cute little top, or a nice summer dress. Accessories are my best friend! So, I love pairing summer outfits with either a hat, head scarf or nice pair of earrings.
