Georgia has joined team Volcom as a brand ambassador which will see her design her own exclusive Volcom X Georgia May Jagger range.
We caught up with Georgia May Jagger to chat about her role at Volcom, who her style icons are and what she has in the pipeline!
You’re one of our favourite style crushes and you’ve teamed up with one of our favourite brands, what a perfect match! How did your relationship with Volcom come about?
It was very exciting for me when I got a call from my agency to let me know that Volcom wanted to meet with me about working with them to design a clothing range, as well as becoming a brand ambassador. It’s something that I wanted to do as I’ve grown up with Volcom so naturally, I said yes!
How long have you been working with Volcom now?
It has been two years now and it’s been amazing! I have got to travel to so many incredible locations like Hawaii and Mexico to shoot the campaigns; I even got to go surfing with Coco Ho!
What does your role as brand ambassador see you get up to?
Apart from modelling for Volcom alongside a lot of awesome women who are surfers, skaters and models, I also design my own range for Volcom.
I love working with Volcom, they are so encouraging of my new ideas. The swimwear that I’ve designed is made out of econyl which is recycled nylon from fishing nets. I think it’s fantastic that Volcom are conscious of the impact the fashion industry has on climate change and that they are always thinking of new ways they can help.
The proceeds of the econyl swimsuit I designed were donated to Project 0, who are an ocean charity that I partner with.
You’ve worked hard for some incredible modelling opportunities, when and how did you start modelling?
I started modelling when I was about 14 or 15 but only shooting here and there. My big break was when I was 17 and I got cast in the Hudson Jeans and Versace campaigns.
Who would you say is your favourite style icon?
I’ve always looked up to my mother’s style. She always looks glamorous and doesn’t take fashion too seriously; she looks as good in a ball gown as she does in a sarong.
What’s in the pipeline for Georgia May Jagger?
I’m excited about Volcom’s new denim campaign launch, Volcom for Everybody which has all-inclusive sizing. I also own a hair company named Bleach which I’ll continue working on, I'll be also launching my own skincare range while continuing to work in the fashion industry.
