Brand Feature: The Hidden Way

Embodying carefree, bohemian attitudes and pairing them with effortless beach style and nostalgia, The Hidden Way have made a stamp in the scene since first coming to fruition a few years back.

Born on the shores of the Gold Coast, the team live by one simple ethos ‘to be creative, free spirited and chase experiences over trends’. It’s evident that this is stems down through every aspect of the brand, with each season encapsulating that next adventure and free state of mind through creative cuts, free flowing materials and artist approach and attention to design.

The label’s latest collection, titled SOL has just landed on site and captures the spirit of yesteryear with tiered dresses, flowing hem lines, retro collars with a hint of 90’s edge.

Read on as we catch up with Renae Harris, The Hidden Way’s Head Designer to learn more about ‘SOL’ and of course, dive deeper into the label’s background and unique personality.

Give us a run down of what The Hidden Way label is all about?
In a nutshell The Hidden Way is all about that freedom state of mind, it’s about holidays and weekend getaway’s. We try to capture the feeling you get when your soul is ignited by the ocean, the music and the stars.

The new collection has just hit the site and looks incredible. Run us through how it all came to life and where you drew your inspiration?
The new collection is called ‘SOL’ we wanted to capture that feeling when your packing for your first summer road trip or festival. I love the excitement of a weekend with the sun on your skin surrounded by your fav girls with no worries. It’s about escaping the realms of the norm whether it be for a music festival, road trip, or a trip far away. We wanted to make sure the range had all your effortless stables covered. We’ve drawn inspiration from the bohemian spirit of yesteryear and the range brings you tiered dresses, flowing hem lines, retro collar’s with a hint of early 90’s edge.

Describe your creative process from first putting pen to paper to eventually seeing the final product in hand and out there on your loyal customer base?
Inspiration comes from everywhere, you're always looking at everything as if it could be something new for the your next range. Travel is a huge part of our inspiration and we love to be inspired by getting out of our comfort zone. It’s an evolving process that comes together organically over a period or weeks and months. There is always highs and lows and then when you least expect it everything falls into place.

Have you got a favourite piece? What will we catch you in this season?
I love all the linen pieces, and fun prints but the item I think you will see me in most would be the Cecile Linen Shirt Dress, it's so versatile.
