Tap Water With A Story
Jointhepipe.org/Australia is a social enterprise committed to the fair distribution of drinking water around the world. It is the Australian chapter of Jointhepipe.org an organisation launched in the Netherlands in 2010. Our aim is to create the first social network of tap water drinkers with a dream; building the longest water pipe in the world to re-distribute water in a fairer way.


Here's The Deal
You can join our social network of tap water drinkers by buying one of our durable BPA free bottles. Proceeds from our bottles will go to water and sanitation projects in developing countries. Once you’re a member you can fill up the bottles with water from your tap or at the special Jointhepipe.org/australia tap stations that we are aiming to build in public spaces such as parks, bus stops, busi- nesses and many other places that we would like to see free drink- ing water available. We also ask that you help by spreading the word to friends, family and colleagues to let them know how to support.


Evidence Based
Inside each bottle is a sticker which can be placed on the bottom of your bottle. This sticker has google map coordinates which pin- point the area that your bottle has helped to fund projects in. We will showcase each of these projects on our website once complete so you can see the results of joining our network. This way jointhepipe. org/Australia offers a transparent, open source network using the first design-bottle for tap water.


Tap Water
The charge for one litre of bottled water is up to 2,500 times the cost of tap water. Bottled water is more than 2 times more ex- pensive than petrol. Australian’s enjoy some of the highest quality tap water in the world. The requirements our drinking water needs to meet are stricter then the requirements of mineral and spring water.



Why?
Every year 2 million children die from diseases caused by drink- ing polluted water. Nearly 900 million people around the world cannot access clean drinking water. In Australia we spend over half a million dollars per year on bottled water. It takes about 3 litres of water to make each litre of bottled water. About 80,000 tonnes of landfill are created in Australia each year from discarded water bottles. By drinking tap water you avoid the environmental pressures that normally accompany bottled water, such as CO2 emissions in transportation and the production of cardboard, glass and plastic bottles.


Our Bottles
Our bottles are made to be reused over and over again, and for this purpose are dishwasher safe, BPA free, impact resistant, temperature resistant; odour, taste and stain resistant. They are shaped like pieces of pipe so that each bottle can continue to tell the story of the longest water pipe in the world.
